Clint Townsend
Originally from Texas—and having also called New Mexico, Arizona, and Oklahoma home—I’ve lived a life filled with music, faith, and a journey that has tested me in extraordinary ways. As a former drummer and singer, I once lived to make music. But in 2006, my life changed dramatically when I was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), followed by a diagnosis of Lyme disease in 2010.
Despite these profound challenges, God has continued to open doors for me. My faith in Jesus Christ and the gift of humor have carried me through the darkest valleys. They have also fueled a passion in me to share my story—one of perseverance, purpose, and unshakeable hope.
Through God’s grace and modern technology, I’ve written two books— "Xⁿ [X to The Nth]" and "An Unsanded Floor"—as well as their screenplay and teleplay adaptations, all typed entirely with my eyes using eye-gaze tracking software. These works are more than stories; they are testimonies to the strength God provides in the face of adversity. In addition, I'm currently writing two more books... simultaneously.
Over the years, I’ve been honored to speak at churches and schools, where I share my journey and the sustaining power of faith through suffering. My message encourages hearts, strengthens spirits, and reminds people—young and old alike—that God is present and powerful, no matter the circumstances.
A portion of all proceeds from speaking fees and online book sales goes to Team Gleason, an ALS charity founded by Steve Gleason, whose mission resonates deeply with my own.
